This page provides answers to the most common questions we often hear regarding lists on IMDb. If your question isn't answered here, head on over to the IMDb Support Community powered by Sprinklr, where other customers might be able to help.
Note that the functionality, examples, and screenshots are taken from the IMDb website, and these often vary from lists on our iOS and Android mobile apps.
Lists are a fantastic way to share your movie, TV & celebrity picks with other IMDb users or just to keep a record for yourself.
To find Your Lists, please select your name in the right hand of the screen and select "Your Lists" from the drop-down menu.
Your Lists can also be found on "Your Profile" page.
To change your list view format, select any of the view icons (i.e. detailed, grid, or compact view) at the top of the list, as highlighted below. List views are "sticky". Meaning when you select a list view, all your lists will then default to that selected view.
You must register/login to IMDb to create a list. Once logged in, select your name in the right hand of the screen, select "Your Lists" from the drop-down menu and click the Create A New List button.
The maximum length for list titles is 255 characters, whilst the maximum length for list descriptions and notes (i.e., item descriptions) is 10,000 characters.

You can create a list of any of the following IMDb page types; Titles, People, Images, or Videos.
You can add an item to your list either from the "List Edit" page, or from a Name/Title page on www.IMDb.com or the IMDb mobile apps (iOS or Android).
To edit your list, select your name in the right hand of the screen, select "Your Lists" from the drop-down menu, click the 3 vertical dots to the right of your list, and choose "Edit".
To move/rearrange the order of items in a list, go to the list's edit page (see FAQ) and then drag your items to their desired places using the double three vertical dots icon, or select the triangle on the right of each item to update its desired position with a new number in the list order.
Once you're done reordering your list, click "Save List Order" and the page will refresh with the new order.
When you update the order position of multiple items in your list, the order of the remaining items will automatically shift up/down in rank accordingly.
For example, if you have a list containing 10 items and want to move item #5 to the top of the list and item #3 to the bottom of the list, you will see the following changes:
Item #5 will move to the 1st position in the list, the previous 1st title will move to 2nd position, 2nd title will move to 3rd position, 4th title will remain in 4th position, 6th title will move to 5th, 7th will move to 6th, 8th will move to 7th, 9th will move to 8th, 10th will move to 9th, and item #3 will move to the bottom of the list.
To copy items from a list, go to the list's edit page (see FAQ), check the box to the left of any items you want to copy, select "Copy" and select the list destination where you want the copied items to go.
To delete an item or invalid item from your list (i.e. "This item does not exist"), go to the list's edit page (see FAQ), check the box to the left of any item(s) you want to remove, select the "Delete" icon at the top and in the confirmation dialog, select "Save".
We support formatting using [Square Brackets].
We have recently updated our List policies, with a change to disallow external URLs (non-IMDb links) in List titles, descriptions, and notes (i.e., item descriptions). You can still include links to other IMDb pages in all List fields.
There are two ways to add an episode or short to a list:
To delete a list from your IMDb account, select your name on the right hand side of the screen, and then select Your Lists from the drop-down menu. On the Your Lists page, click the vertical three dots to the right of your list, and click "Delete" in the menu, then select "Delete" in the confirmation dialog.
To update privacy settings for a list, go the list's edit page (see FAQ) and use the toggle on the top right of the screen. Toggling the setting to "Private" means that only you will be able to see your list; "Public" means that any IMDb user will be able to see your list.
To share a public list directly from IMDb, go to the list page and select the "Share" icon at the top right.
You must be logged in on an account to share your list via social media.
You can also share your list by copying the URL from your browser and sending it via text message or e-mail.
We do not support voting or commenting on lists at this time.

To report a list you think should be removed, please use the Contact form.
We only remove lists if they breach our policies, including:
Lists are subjective, so individual opinions that do not breach any of our other polices above are permitted (e.g. "Awful films").
We don't have a list search feature on IMDb at this time, but you can use your preferred search engine. For example, if you are looking for lists mentioning the word director, you can use the following Google query: director site:imdb.com/list
You can also find lists by navigating to a user's profile page. For example, you can see all the lists created by our founder Col Needham.
To see the most recent items added to a list, select "Date added" from the "Sort By" drop-down menu, and then click the arrow symbol to the right of the "Sort By" menu to switch the order to most recent first.
For each title in a list, we show the yellow IMDb star rating. If you have rated the title, we will also show your rating via a blue star.
Each IMDb user is limited to 999 lists.
Watchlists, Lists, and Check-ins can have a maximum of 10,000 items.
We will delete all user lists within 30 days of the account being deleted.
You can export your lists by opening the desired list; and then selecting the "Export" icon from the top right.
