Overview

• There is a lot of confusion with the term "Panavision". If you submit process or camera information with Panavision, please be as precise as possible. For the process entry you have to add an attribute (spherical) or (anamorphic) to make clear what process is used. Generally "Filmed in Panavision" means that an anamorphic Panavision lens was used and that the (anamorphic) attribute together with an aspect ratio entry of 2.35 : 1 should be used. "Filmed with Panavision Cameras and Lenses" usually means a spherical (flat) process. In this case use the attribute (spherical) and also add camera entry: Panavision Cameras and Lenses. However, sometimes the credits are wrong and you need further information.
• If you use the term "Panavision" without additional information it is not clear whether you mean the company's name, a camera model, the lens type, or if you just mean that it is an anamorphic movie. Always use the attributes and add Camera and Ratio entries whenever possible.
• For Super 35 movies enter: Super 35 under Process, Filmed with Panavision Cameras and Lenses under Camera, 2.35 : 1 under Ratio, 35 mm under Negative and 35 mm, attribute (anamorphic) under Print format.
• If you do not know the name of a process add attributes (spherical) or (anamorphic) under Process for movies released after 1952.

Camera

• Format: Camera, Lens.

• If different camera models are used, please use a separate entry for each model.

Color

• Color Info details if the title was originally released in color or in black and white. For titles where the release contains both use of color and black and white picture, we allow both to be added. The attributes field should be used to provide additional context where both are used - See The Wizard of Oz for example.
• For a series, color information should be present for both the series and episode page(s). 

Film Length in Meters

• Length of a film in meters (add a lower case "m").
• If necessary add (Format, Country) as attributes.

• If you want to submit the running length of a film in minutes, please use the running times section.

Laboratory

• Format: Laboratory Name, Location, Country.
• Please include the state abbreviation if in the USA.
• Examples:

  DeLuxe, Hollywood (CA), USA
  Technicolor, Vancouver, Canada  
  
  Technicolor, Bangkok, Thailand

Image Ratio

• Film aspect ratios should be formatted as a :1 ratio with width information, i.e.:
1.78 : 1
1.33 : 1
etc.


• TV aspect ratios should be formatted as:
16:9
16:9 HD
4:3
4:3 Letterbox
etc.


• A list of acceptable ratios can be displayed by clicking on the gray list icon ( ) next to the Aspect Ratio freetext field.

Negative Format

• Film negative format in milimeters (mm); one format per entry, then type a space and "mm". If the original master was made on video use "Video" and add an attribute for the TV standard (NTSC, PAL, ...).

• The "Digital" format is used when something is computer generated and there is no "negative" per se; digital video should use "Video" with an appropriate attribute, and optionally with "digital video" for the process.

Print Format

• Film negative format in milimeters (mm); one format entry per line, then type a space and "mm" in small letters. For TV productions which were edited and mastered on video, use "Video" and add an attribute for the TV standard.

Process

• Cinematographic process or video system, i.e. Spherical or CinemaScope.
• Note: Do not add color or sound processes here. Use the specific sound mix lists instead.

Tracking your contribution
