IMDb is centered around titles (e.g. movies, TV series, video games, etc.) and all associated information. A huge part of a title’s production is the Cast & Crew which we list on all IMDb title pages with credits.
On IMDb, a title's cast and crew members are listed in different credit categories based on their role and department in the title's official credits. You can find credit categories on any IMDb title or name page. For title pages, this information is available on the "Full cast and crew" subpage (See example). On name pages, you'll find it under the "Credits" section (See example).
Anybody with a free IMDb account can submit credits to the database — this article provides guidance into the type of credits we allow, along what category they should be listed in, and also how to submit them to the database.
We're excited to announce the launch of 12 new credit categories on IMDb and IMDbPro, enhancing the representation of industry professionals across our services. These additional categories allow for more specific classification of existing roles within the entertainment industry. Previously, credits for these existing roles were primarily listed in the "Additional Crew" category.
This category contains roles that involve creating, coaching, supervising or performing dance sequences, movement patterns, and coordinated physical performances.

The Color Department specializes in the artistic and technical manipulation of color in post-production, distinct from creative color design found in Animation or Art departments.
This department handles color finishing processes such as color grading, conforming, and versioning to ensure the final product meets both artistic vision and technical standards.

Craft Services provides on-set catering and refreshments for film and television productions. They manage all aspects of food-related services providing meals, snacks and beverages to cast and crew throughout production.

The Health and Safety Department oversees all aspects of workplace safety and health protection during production, establishing protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulations. They maintain safe working conditions, coordinate emergency procedures, and provide health-related guidance throughout production.

Intimacy Coordinators work with directors, performers and production teams to safely oversee scenes involving physical intimacy or nudity. They establish safe working environments ensuring the well-being and comfort of performers while helping achieve the creative vision.

The Legal department encompasses professionals responsible for providing legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing intellectual property rights for film, television, and media productions whilst ensuring they adhere to relevant laws and regulations.

The Production Department oversees operational and administrative aspects of entertainment productions. They coordinate between departments and facilitate day-to-day operations, providing logistical assistance, maintaining documentation, and ensuring smooth communications.
This department does not include Producers and Production Managers as they are listed in their own dedicated departments.

Production Finance and Accounting encompasses the financial management and budgeting aspects of film, television, and media productions, from budget preparation, financial analysis and reporting, cost control, and accounting procedures to maintain the fiscal health of production.

The Property Department is responsible for all moveable objects handled by actors or used as set dressing in film and television productions.
The Property Department sources, creates, maintains, and manages all props - any physical items that actors interact with or that help tell the story. This includes everything from personal props (items carried or used by characters) to set props (objects that enhance scenes), excluding costumes, structural set pieces, and fixed set decoration.
Examples of props are hand props, set dressing, furniture, vehicles, food, and personal items that help establish character and enhance storytelling.

Publicists manage the piblic image of entertainment projects and talent. They create buzz through press releases, media interviews, and social media campaigns. Publicists coordinate press junkets, red carpet events, and photo opportunities, working closely with journalists to secure favorable coverage. By building relationships with media outlets and influencers, publicists help shape public perception and drive audience engagement for films, TV shows, and the people who make them.
A person (e.g. an employed or contracted journalist/influencer) provided with publicity material by the title's publicist is not eligible to be included in this category. For example, a journalist who writes an article about a title is not eligible to be credited on the title's IMDb page.

Puppetry encompasses the art and craft of designing, creating, operating, and maintaining puppets for film, television, and other entertainment productions.
This category includes professionals who bring inanimate objects to life through various techniques such as hand puppets, marionettes, or rod puppets. Puppetry represents a specialized field that combines elements of practical effects, performance art, and character animation to contribute to visual storytelling through the creation and manipulation of physical characters.

The Voice Actor - Dubbing category contains people who voice a translated version of a title's originally recorded dialogue. Their translated performance (“dub”) is then used to replace the original dialogue, so that people can listen to the title in their preferred language. For example, Cameron Diaz voiced the original dialogue of the character “Princess Fiona” in Shrek, whereas Nuria Mediavilla voiced the Spanish-Spain dub of the same character.
Dubbing Voice Actors must be skilled at understanding the language of the original footage and replicating the acting, emotion, and intonation; while matching the lip movements of the character they are portraying.
Credits in this category are exempt from the IMDb's credited/uncredited "rule", with the credits not needing to be marked as (uncredited) when typically applicable. Therefore, supporting evidence is required with all submissions to help our team verify the information is accurate. For more information, please refer to our guide.
